Message from the Chapter Director

On the weekend of October 4, 2014 I had the pleasure of attending my 3rd Board of Directors' meetings on behalf of the Toronto Chapter. This was an important and crucial meeting as there were many items on the agenda. As you may recall, last year the Toronto Chapter Vice Chair wrote about Vision 2020, a vision plan for the success of the Chapter. While the Vision 2020 subcommittee met to chart out a plan, this was put on hold as a result of the discussions that arose at Conference 2014 in Kitchener, Ontario. For those that were present, at the Members Forum, Mr. Brent Borgundvaag addressed the gathering with the findings of the Vision/Mission task force. The Board met to review and discuss the findings, ultimately making final decisions which will be released in the upcoming months by the Association Office...

The Science of Building

The Science of Building was held on November 19, 2014 at the Old Mill Inn. With over 125 individuals in attendance, the educational day seminar was a great success. Topics and speakers included "Thermal Performance Modeling for New Building Design" by Mr. Peter Adams, P.Eng., Morrison Hershfield, "Lean and Green Building Science" by Dr. Ted Kesik, University of Toronto, "Current Research: The Future of Building Performance" by Dr. John Straube, Building Science Consulting Inc. and "Reducing Cost and Liability with Good Specifications" by CSC President, Mr. Keith Robinson, FCSC, RSW, Dialog.

The event would not have been a success without the hard work and dedication of the organizing committee which included Mr. Neil Lougheed, Adex, Mr. Steve Ioannides, ASI Watrous Group, Mr. Mark Clemmensen, Henry Bakor, Mr. Richard Shanks, Roof Mart and Mr. Paraic Lally, Roxul Inc. If you were in attendance, the organizing committee would like to hear your feedback at your earliest. Please email feedback to Do you have ideas for the next education day? Please forward your suggestions to us at your earliest. Planning is already underway for the next event! Photos and more will be available on our website in the coming weeks.
